After a creative block that lasted longer than any I've ever experienced, I'm suddenly free of it, and find myself full of the creative fire that had been absent.

I'm undertaking projects on all fronts.
Creating, Writing, Drawing, Coloring, Lettering, Editing, and Publishing.
Many different hats are required. (Would be much easier if I were a multi-headed hydra!)
Here's a brief glimpse at what's in the works:

The Old:
Completed the script and breakdowns for the second part of a La Gata story that was started in the 1989!
legacyherocomics.deviantart.co…
'Night of The Cat' (part 2) finds the fledgling, feline heroine in trouble, when the villain Crackhead infects her with his drug-touch!, but a special guest-star may be able to save the day. The story ties-in to events in The Young Defenders.

The New:
Working on two new projects for Mythic ('Pyramids on Main Street' and 'Mythic Proportions').
Having loads of fun building his universe bit by bit.

The Borrowed:
For the story 'Mythic Proportions', I will introduce a team that borrows their concept directly from the Fantastic Four and The Doom Patrol.
I will also be borrowing some ideas from the Public Domain to rework into brand new characters.
Currently working on U.S. Sam (based on the PD character Uncle Sam) and Doc Steele (based on the PD character Doc Strange).

The Blue:
The "blue" of course refers to the ongoing adventures of Blue Bug!

He will continue to appear as the lead story in 'Double Feature Comics', as well as in special solo issues. Specifically, 'Bug Hunt' which bridges the gap between his appearance in 'The Arcadia Anthology' and 'Double Feature Comics'.
Also a cross-company Blue Bug team-up with Pharaoh (from Elektrika Studios) is in the works.

I'd also like to incorporate more elements of Monster, Horror, and Western genres into my superhero universe in the future.

Glad to be back on a positive and productive creative path.

I returned home to Puerto Rico, last week, for the first time in 6 months.
Had to hit the ground running, as I am scheduled to appear at AguadaCon on July 15th.

The event, the 5th Convencion de Coleccionistas de Aguada (aka-AguadaCon) will take place in Aguada, Puerto Rico at Cancha All-Star de Aguada from 9am-5pm.

I will be there to sell, sign, and promote 'Double Feature Comics' #0.
DFC is a joint publishing venture between Legacy Brand Comics and Elektrika Studios.
The comic will be available in two formats. As a standard printed edition, and on CD with hi-res pdf images.

We will be giving away lots of goodies with each purchase. Including signatures, certificates of authenticity, and an exclusive, transparent, collector card, featuring characters from both publishers! The CD edition comes with 10 bonus images and a copy of The Arcadia Anthology Showcase.

If you are in the neighborhood, please stop by and see us.

Can't make the con? Fear not! Copies of Double Feature Comics #0 are available online at Indyplanet.  www.indyplanet.com/store/produ…

Still lots of prep and promotion to do, so I'd better get to it.
Later.

To the dust returned, and he will be missed.

Outside of comic books, Ray Bradbury is perhaps my biggest creative influence, and  has been a source of endless inspiration.

I recall my first real exposure to "The Master of Modern Science-Fiction" (A term that he well-deserved, but is also inaccurate). It was a hardcover, pocket-sized copy of 'The Illustrated Man' that I purchased, for next to nothing, at a yard sale in Riverside California.
If this was Science-Fiction, I was hooked!!

As Bradbury himself would point-out, he didn't write Science Fiction. I think he'd prefer the term "Fantasy Writer." (And what fantasies they were!)
"First of all, I don't write science fiction," he said. "I've only done one science-fiction book and that's 'Fahrenheit 451', based on reality. Science fiction is a depiction of the real. Fantasy is a depiction of the unreal. So 'Martian Chronicles' (the book that cemented his association with the "Science Fiction" genre)  is (according to Bradbury) not science fiction at all.  It's fantasy. It couldn't happen".

That, perhaps, is the true genius of Mr. Bradbury. He made me believe that the most fantastic things could happen.
That somewhere, far off in an October country, families of weird and winged relatives gathered for an annual reunion. That something wicked could descend on an unsuspecting town. That human dramas played out on inhuman martian landscapes. That an aging parrot had memorized the unpublished, final novel written by Hemingway.  And...most importantly...he made me believe that life, love, loss, magic, and wonder could all be contained on a page (Even a comic book page!), if one knew how.
That was his gift to me.

As a boy, visiting a carnival in Illinois, 12-year-old Ray Bradbury encountered "Mr. Electrico", a carnival sideshow act who wielded an electrified sword, that he pointed at the boy, sending a jolt of electricity through him. He followed this with the command: "Live forever!"
A few days later, Ray Bradbury began to write. Writing every single day of his life.

How does one live forever?
I believe, that through the manipulation of millions upon millions of words, Ray Bradbury has done just that.

He once compared the ongoing success of  'Martian Chronicles' to the enduring Greek myths.
Stating: "That's the reason it's going to be around a long time – because it's a Greek myth, and myths have staying power."

And by default, so too does Ray Bradbury.

Summer Stock

2 min read
It's that time of the year again, when I stop and take stock of my creative goals for the upcoming Summer.

I've been away from home since the beginning of the year, and it's been somewhat difficult finding my creative groove while uprooted.
However, one must persevere.

The main focus this Summer is the release of 'Double Feature Comics' #0 in June. It will be available in a printed edition as well as a pdf download via Indyplanet. This will be followed by an appearance (and lots more promotion) at The AguadCon in Aguada, Puerto Rico in July! (The issue is completed and in the hands of Ka-Blam printing).

I will also use the month of July to complete 'Legacy Heroes' #1 (which is near the final inking stages, with one story colored), and then begin the art for issue #2 (for which two stories have already been penciled and inked).

I'm nearly done re-drawing/inking the lost Blue Bug pages for the much delayed 'Arcadia Anthology' #6. (Only two more pages to go!)
Following the release of AA#6, there will be 'The Bug Collection'. An issue containing re-prints of all 6 Blue Bug stories from The Anthology. Including some new art, new pin-ups, and a 4-page Origin story.

Then I can shift my focus to Double Feature Comics #1.  (For which preliminary breakdowns and loose pencils for the first feature's splash page are already done. The second feature is already completed.)

'The Pride' #1 is currently at the halfway point of its coloring, and will not see print until the Fall.

...And somewhere, in all of this, I need to find time to complete 'Blue Bug: Bug Hunt', a one-shot story that takes place directly after the events in 'Arcadia Anthology' #6, but before 'Double Feature Comics' #0.

So, umm..yeah.
A busy Summer ahead.
